At Indigo Courier Services we know that climate change disproportionally affects the most vulnerable people on the planet. That is why we try to produce as few emissions and waste as possible and offset unavoidable emissions by supporting reforestation and rewildling projects across the globe to absorb CO2 and build resilient ecosystems.
We aim to reduce emissions by:
- Driving efficiently to get as many miles per gallon as possible.
- Keeping the van in an good state of repair. The van is serviced regularly which helps with running efficiency as well as reliability and a smart, professional appearance.
- Keeping vans for as long as they can be reliable, instead of upgrading as soon as a new model is released. This reduced the amount of raw materials needed over the course of many years.
- Offering a service which avoids multiple car trips to transport goods, which often results in a higher financial and environmental cost.
- Getting backloads where possible.
We aim to reduce waste by:
- Using as little single use plastic as possible. Although palette wrap is sometimes useful, and is worth using to prevent breakages (especially as breakages are also environmentally costly), where appropriate we prefer to use blankets or other reusable methods of padding, wrapping and strapping your goods to ensure their safely, with as little waste as possible.
We offset emissions that we cannot avoid emitting by:
- Supporting reforestation projects: We have planted trees to offset all business emissions. The trees we have planted are diverse, not monocultured and in the areas where they can be most effective to build resilient ecosystems and provide a carbon sink
